Bishop Hilliard/New Light Church (NLC) Board of Directors Speaks Out On Helicopter Matter

There have been discussions concerning an appeal made by the ministry. The recent appeal letter concerning the Church owned helicopter was exclusively for NLC friends, members and partners who from time to time are asked to support various ministry projects. This has been a long standing practice of many churches, ministries and organizations. The letter was not written to the general public and should the specified project not be of interest to the recipient, it should simply be discarded. In the letter there is no mention of a ministry need of $50,000 but an opportunity to save $50,000 if the Church's helicopter blades were upgraded at that time. Further, there are no bogus claims, prophecies or guarantees promising the donor will receive their dream mode of transportation in 52 days or 52 weeks. The donor is encouraged to use their faith as the Scripture teaches to expect to receive the blessing of favor as a result of their giving.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (Amplified Bible)-"Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving].

8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]."

Luke 6:38 (Amplified Bible)-"Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you."

Matthew 9:29 (King James Version)-" According to your faith be it unto you."

Finally, New Light Church continues to use the helicopter as a ministry tool to service the needs of its six locations. The Church has owned and operated an Aviation Department since 1995 under the guidance and approval of the Board of Directors of the Church. The Church will continue with its mission of touching lives and impacting communities in an integral manner as it has done for the past twenty-nine (29) years.

This is the official response and no interviews will be granted.
